Submit Your Abstract

We are open to submission from July 14th 2025

Case Report & Case Series

General
  • Abstracts must be of surgical interest, suitable for an audience of consultants and surgical trainees
  • The abstract should relate to original work.
  • All submissions should be submitted via the submission link below to the most appropriate category.
  • An abstract must not be submitted to more than one category.
  • After the submission deadline has closed, absolutely no changes can be made to the abstract.
Abstract Format
  • The total word count (excluding title and section headers) should not exceed 250 words.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted as text only
  • No more than a maximum of 6 authors should be listed.
  • The abstract will be judged anonymously therefore, the body of the abstract should not contain information that can identify the authors OR institution
Governance
  • Please ensure that the abstract has been reviewed and agreed by all of the named authors before submission.
  • Where there is a conflict, EKSC committee will take the final decision on whether an abstract will be presented.
  • All authors have a responsibility to ensure that the data submitted is accurate, is not extrapolated and fairly represents the presentation to be given at the meeting.
  • Ensure appropriate consent has been obtained from patients represented in your case abstract

Video

General
  • Video submissions must be of surgical interest, suitable for an audience of consultants and surgical trainees
  • The topic of video submissions can include topical presentations as well as operative surgery and surgical “how to” videos
  • The video and accompanying abstract should relate to original and unpublished work.
  • All submissions should be be submitted via the Abstract Submission Form to the most appropriate category.
  • An abstract must not be submitted to more than one category.
  • After the submission deadline has closed, absolutely no changes can be made to the abstract.
Abstract Format
  • Video Abstracts must consist of sections consistent with the content of the video.
  • The total word count (excluding title and section headers) should not exceed 250 words.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted as text only with no tables, figures, diagrams.
  • No more than a maximum of six authors should be listed.
  • Complete video submissions of no longer than 5 minutes will be considered.
  • Videos should be submitted as a URL link to an unlisted YouTube video. Your link will not be shared outside of the EKSC committee and judges. We will notify you when we no longer require access should you wish to change the privacy settings of your video submission.
  • All video submissions should be submitted with narration for the benefit of the shortlisting judges. Submissions accepted for presentation will present their video with live commentary with narration removed on the day of the conference.

Photo

General
  • We invite submissions for photographs relating to the theme "Charity"
  • The Photo Competition is open to all photographers of all ages
  • All submissions should be be submitted via the Abstract Submission Form. Hard copies cannot be accepted
  • Photographs must not have been previously published and must be taken within 24 months of the closing date for submission - 1st November 2025
Submission Format
  • You may enter a maximum of two photographs (black and white and colour)
  • Your initial submission format cannot exceed 10mb, the size limit of our portal.
  • Shortlisted entrants will be required to provide a higher quality image for final judging.
  • You must include a title and caption of your photograph not exceeding 100 words
  • Abstracts are to be submitted as text only.

Governance
  • Photographers must seek the permission of people featured in the photograph (or the permission of guardians for photographs of minors) or events/properties before submitting your entry in order to ensure GDPR compliance. By submitting the EKSC will assume this permission is in place
  • By submitting images the photographer grants EKSC licence to use the photograph in publicity for the Conference
Judging
  • Photos will be posted to social media for a People's Choice Award based on number of likes
  • Photos will also be judged by a panel of judges for a Judges' Choice Award
