The East Kent Surgical Conference (EKSC) formerly the William Harvey Surgical Evening is an annual academic event proudly hosted by East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. Now in its 8th year EKSC has grown into a cornerstone of the regional surgical calendar - bringing together surgeons, trainees, students and allied healthcare professionals from across Kent and beyond.
This event started as the William Harvey Surgical Evening eight years ago initially held in the Medical Education Department at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, who have continued to support the event. The event became a platform for juniors to experience the process of writing abstracts and presenting their work in an environment where they would receive constructive feedback.
In 2023, the William Harvey Surgical Evening was renamed the East Kent Surgical Conference to adopt a more inclusive identity and welcome the involvement of colleagues across Kent and beyond.
The EKSC offers a vibrant platform for clinical learning, innovation, and collaboration. Our one-day programme includes expert keynote talks, competitive oral and poster presentations, hands-on workshops, and thought provoking panel discussions. Each session is carefully curated to reflect the evolving landscape of surgery, with a special focus on promoting quality improvement, research, and inclusivity in surgical practice.
The Conference showcases a diverse range of specialties - from Bariatric and Colorectal Surgery to General Emergencies and Women in Surgery - ensuring there is something for everyone, whether you're an aspiring medical student or a seasoned consultant.
EKSC is more than just a Conference - it is a celebration of surgical excellence, mentorship and community. Join us this year for a day of inspiration, knowledge exchange and connection - rounded off by our Gala Dinner.
